The 33 Say Their Last Goodbye To Chile

The cast and crew of “The 33,” a film about the dramatic 2010 rescue of 33 men from a mine in northern Chile, said goodbye to the Andean nation as the phase of postproduction in Canada begins.

“It’s been a great experience and we think we have a great film,” producer Edward McGurn said in a statement to the press.

The movie, directed by Mexico’s Patricia Riggen (“The Same Moon”), tells the story of the mining accident that in 2010 kept the whole world in suspense: 33 miners were buried for almost 70 days by a cave-in down the San Jose Mine in the northern part of the country.

After a salt mine in Colombia was used to shoot scenes of the collapsed Chilean mineshaft, the cast, headed by Antonio Banderas in the role of the miners’ leader Mario Sepulveda, went to the arid north of this long, narrow country to shoot the outdoor scenes.

Actors like Juliette Binoche, James Brolin, Kate del Castillo, Federico Luppi and Mario Casas recreated in Copiapo, in the northern Chilean region of Atacama, what happened at Esperanza Camp, where a colorful, chaotic and at times solemn human landscape became engraved in the world’s memory.

The film is due for release at the end of this year.

The man who played the patriarch on CBS’ long-running series The Waltons has died. Ralph Waitewas 85. He also had been recurring since 2008 as Papa Gibbs, the father of Mark Harmon’s character, on NCIS. “Everyone at NCIS is deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and colleague Ralph Waite,” the show’s cast and crew said in a statement sent out by CBS tonight. “Ralph was family to us, a tremendous talent and a very special man. We truly cherish the time we had with him. Our hearts and prayers go out to his loved ones.” He also recurred on Bones as the grandfather of David Boreanaz’s character, played Father Matt in nearly 100 episodes of Days Of Our Lives and appeared in Grey’s AnatomyCSICold Case and The Practice.

But Waite was best known as “Daddy” on The Waltons. He starred for nine seasons on the Depression-era drama as John Walton Sr., who eked out a living at the family lumber mill on Walton’s Mountain. He scored an Emmy nom for the role in 1978 and also directed more than a dozen episodes of the hourlong series, which ran from 1972-81 and was followed by a series of telefilms.

Waite’s acting credits date to the mid-1960s. The 33
Filed Under: Movie

EXCLUSIVE: In what will be her first acting role since leaving network TV’s most-watched series NCIS, Cote De Pablo has been cast in The 33, the feature film based on the 2010 rescue of 33 Chilean miners after being trapped 69 days in the Copiapo gold and copper mine more than half an mile below the earth’s surface. Antonio Banderas, Juliette Binoche and Rodrigo Santoro are among those already aboard the ensemble cast of the pic, which is now in production in Chile and Colombia with Patricia Riggen directing. The script is from Craig Borten (Dallas Buyers Club) and Michael Thomas.

De Pablo, who was born in Chile and whose mother still lives there, will play a wife of one of the trapped miners, who became international stars following their dramatic rescue that played out live worldwide. Her scenes will be shot in Chile’s Atacama Desert near where the actual event, and the subsequent rescue efforts took place. She is repped by Paradigm.

It was a shocker when De Pablo departed NCIS in July after contract negotiations with CBS and producer CBS TV Studios went south ahead of the series’ current 11th season. She had been the last among the cast to sign their deal, and the network said the decision to exit was hers. She returned for enough shows this season to finish out the storyline of her character Ziva David, which she had played for eight years. CBS chief Leslie Moonves later said of the failed talks: “We offered Cote de Pablo a lot of money — and then we offered even more money. We didn’t want to lose her.”

Mike Medavoy is producing The 33 with Robert Katz and Edward McGurn. Carlos Eugenio Lavin, Leopoldo Enriquez and Alan Zhang are executive producing.

No one leaves TV’s most-watched drama for no apparent reason — do they? But she did (she played Ziva David on “NCIS”). Her replacement, Emily Wickersham, has fascinating shoes to fill.

Cote de Pablo, 34
Since 2005, Chilean de Pablo, 34, has starred as Ziva David on CBS’ three-time Emmy-nominated series NCIS. In July, she announced her departure from the ratings juggernaut, which averages 21.5 million viewers, saying she is “looking forward to a little time off.”
Why she loves being Latina: “Culturally speaking, the concept of extended family: long conversations and the idea that anyone, regardless of age, can express their opinions.”

Cote de Pablo To Be the Moderator for a John Malkovich Fashion Show in Puerto Rico
Filed Under: Event

Chilean actress Cote de Pablo will be moderator of John Malkovich fashion show in Puerto Rico.

ALMA award winner was called to be part of the event in which the American actor will present his collection entitled “Technobohemian”.

SAN JUAN. – Actor John Malkovich will present the next November 9 his fashion collection “Technobohemian” at the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico (MAPR), the cultural institution said today.

The MAPR said in a statement that this is the first time Malkovich will be showing his collection in a Latin American country, after doing so in renowned fashion capitals like Milan and Paris.

On display, the Emmy winner will be accompanied by project manager and winner of a Tony Award, Stephen Eich, and Chilean national and actress Cote de Pablo, who will moderate the event.

The museum’s executive director, Lourdes Ramos, was enthusiastic about the visit of Malkovich, because “this will establish a precedent in the way as Puerto Rico is emphasized in the fashion world.”

Funds from the gala will go to the Artist Assistance Program (BOW) of MAPR, whose mission is to support Puerto Rican artists, and through this contribute to the production management works, maximizing visibility and projection of the same in Puerto Rico and the world.

“Thank you for your solidarity, as this initiative to the institution as well as its interest in raising funds to keep the BOW alive, we will continue to provide more and better services and tools to our designers,” added Ramos.

The Great Hall of the MAPR, Triple-S, will be transformed into a stunning Malkovich catwalk to pay tribute to the life and work of one who was his great friend, the late Puerto Rican actor Raul Julia.

NCIS Fandom Plea For Tiva High Hopes
Filed Under: NCIS, Project, Video Update

Elisha (tonyAndZivaUK on Tumblr) has created a fan music video as a plea for Tony and Ziva on NCIS. Not just for that, but to show just how much Cote is needed and appreciated on the show.

You can watch the video below.

Elisha has said:

TWEET THIS VIDEO TO ANY NCIS ACTORS/WRITERS/DIRECTORS/FANS + #vivalativa + #bringbackcote

Guys!! This is our attempt at sending a message to the people at NCIS who have a say in how they end Tiva (Or if they end Tiva at all). We want to show them just how much they mean to us and how long we have waited for them to become a couple. 8 YEARS. yes I repeat. 8 YEARS! We want to have what we have been promised, and even if Cote has left (I really hope somehow she comes back, she means everything to so many people), we still think that the writers can pull off an “off screen relationship” no problem!

It just doesn’t seem fair to be overly excited for the next season with the hope that “we are getting closer” and then this bomb has hit.

Even though, we have been happy with what we have been getting from the writers (Who are amazingly talented) we have also feel that we have now been robbed of Tiva and the 8 years we have invested feelings, time, tears and love have gone to waste! Hello guys! As you all may know, it has been announced that Cote de Pablo is leaving NCIS :’( I know a lot of people are extremely saddened by this, me included, some of us are trying everything we can to get her back and some of us are working on projects to give her a proper goodbye.

I wanted to do something different, something to capture everyone’s attention! and I really hope it works as everyone did an amazing job!!! I love that I got this idea and it took only seconds for people to volunteer to help out! That is what I call a true fandom!

So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GET THE MESSAGE OUT AND SEND THIS VIDEO TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW!

So please, everyone do tweet. Email. Make our voices heard. You never know. It has been shown in the past that CBS etc do (eventually) listen and realize what the fans are saying (Using AJ Cook and Paget Brewster off Criminal Minds as an example) and at least then we can say that we tried!

Cote To Leave NCIS

CBS has just confirmed that Cote de Pablo is not coming back for the 11th season of the network’s hit drama NCIS this fall, though she will appear long enough for her character Ziva David to finish out her storyline. CBS and producer CBS TV Studios said in a joint statement today that the decision was de Pablo’s to end her longtime run on the show. “We respect Cote’s decision, thank her for being an important part of the NCIS team, and for eight terrific years playing Ziva David”, the statement says. “Cote and CBS share a great respect for the NCIS audience, and we look forward to working with her and the producers on appropriate closure in this chapter of Ziva’s story.” De Pablo had been the only other cast member without a deal (it expired at the end of the most current season) after star Mark Harmon re-upped in February, an agreement that allowed CBS to renew network TV’s most-watched drama soon after. Season 11 is set to premiere September 24. Most of the cast’s contracts are on a different schedule, with only Harmon and de Pablo up the same year. Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray, Pauley Perrette, Rocky Carroll, Brian Dietzen and David McCallum also star. Said de Pablo in her own statement today: “I’ve had 8 great years with NCIS and Ziva David. I have huge respect and affection for Mark, Gary, Michael, David, Rocky, Pauley, Brian, Sean, all of the team and CBS. I look forward to finishing Ziva’s story.”

This past season NCIS topped even NBC’s Sunday Night Football as TV’s most-watched series, averaging around 22 million viewers — up about 7% from previous season. It also ranked No. 1 in the 25-54 demo. NCIS is also licensed in more than 200 markets and ranks as cable’s No. 1 off-network drama in domestic syndication, boosting ratings for USA Network.

Picture Of The Moment

Quote
Most of the time I rest, try to do a movie or just watch them at home. I'm into watching old movies I haven't seen like Roman Polanski's Macbeth. Occasionally I go out with friends, but there's no time to really go clubbing like I used to... I have to take care of myself because if you get sick you still have to work. I'm not much a party animal anyway. I lay low. I like to be grounded by nature, go hiking... go to an isolated island that's not glamorous and touristy at all.
